I am a motivated and curious first year PhD student, who is fascinated by astrocyte physiology. I joined Astiz Lab last year for my second experience abroad, where I focus on characterizing the role of astrocytes in the integration of time cues in the SCN. With the usage of different microscopy techniques like two-photon and confocal microscopy, my project aims to discover the vital role of astrocytes in the proper development and functioning of the circadian clock.
My academic journey started in the United States, where I earned a B.Sc. In Biomedical Science and where I got my first research experience, in a Developmental Biology Lab, where I studied the role of itr-1 in fertilization. Later, I completed my MSc in Biotechnology at the same university, where I had the opportunity to join the Neurobiology Lab, where my research focused on the role of CRMP-2 in microtubule stability in a tauopathy model. These experiences equipped me with the tools necessary to pursue a PhD, and I believe the Astiz Lab is the perfect place to do it because it combines Developmental Biology and Neurobiology.
Outside the lab I enjoy any type of outdoor activities like running, swimming, or biking. Additionally, I love to travel with my family and friends, especially to big cities!
