Our team has been very busy this summer season attending to two conferences back-to-back! And not only attending but also presenting these three fantastic posters showcasing our most recent results:

📢 Long-lasting changes induced by the circadian phase of antenatal glucocorticoid treatment – Presented by Dr. Marianne Lehmann at EBRS.

📢 Clonal Mapping of the Ontogeny of the Mouse Suprachiasmatic Nucleus – Presented by Dr. Denise Ferrarini at EBRS and SENC.

📢 Single-cell exploration of mouse suprachiasmatic nucleus development – Presented by Dr. Sylvia Newbold at EBRS and SENC.

The first conference was the European Biological Rhythms Society (EBRS) Meeting in Lübeck (Germany). Here, the team had the opportunity to meet top chronobiologists and sleep experts from around the world. They could discuss and learn about specific topics in circadian physiology, so this was the perfect setting to refine ongoing collaborations with Prof. Henrik Oster, Dr. Violetta Pilorz, and Prof. Urs Albrecht. Besides, our Group Leader, Dr. Mariana Astiz, had some time to reunite with old friends and colleagues in the picturesque city of Lübeck.

After 5 days of intensive exchanges about all things related to circadian rhythms, the team travelled to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) for the 20th Biennial Meeting of the Spanish Society for Neuroscience (SENC). In this sunny island, the team nurtured from a broader neuroscience programme with a diverse range of topics and professionals working in the field. Needless to say, that Dr. Sylvia Newbold, who was awarded a Travel Grant form the Company of Biologists, and Dr. Denise Ferrarini, who was awarded an International Conference Travel Grant from the British Society for Neuroendocrinology (BSN), both made an excellent job presenting the results from their most recent findings emerging from the ERC-funded StarTicking project. Finally, since we believe that collaboration is the way to push science forward, our researchers spent some time discussing ongoing projects with our collaborators Prof. Laura López de Mascaraque and Dr. María Figueres Oñate. 

Overall, the team really enjoyed the experience and was very happy to meet scientists with similar interests with whom they could discuss new ideas and experiments. They never miss the opportunity to foster new connections and have a vibrant scientific conversation… or to have a dip into the ocean and enjoy the sunset!
