Dr. Sylvia Newbold, Postdoctoral Researcher in the Astiz Lab, gave the talk entitled “A journey into mouse SCN development” during the 2nd DevoHub Meeting in Leioa (Spain).
With the idea that “it takes more than one brain to understand how the brain develops”, the DevoHub is a collaborative initiative that aims at bringing together research groups working in brain development across the campus. This is an excellent opportunity to share scientific questions, technical approaches, discuss ideas and create synergy among the groups involved.
Sylvia gave an excellent talk on the questions that she is working hard to answer: how is the circadian clock assembled and do astrocytes play a part? She clearly explained the experimental approaches that she is using to shed light on this complex topic. This research line is part of the ERC-funded StarTicking project which seeks to answer the question of when and how the circadian clock starts ticking.
Sylvia’s presentation resulted in plenty of questions and interesting discussions where she showed that she owns the project and is willing to learn as much as possible to make it better.
Well done, Sylvia! 👏🏽
