Members of the Astiz Lab participated in Neurogune 2026 in Bilbao (Spain), a meeting that brings together researchers from across the Basque neuroscience community to share their latest discoveries and foster new collaborations.
📢 Dr. Sylvia A. Newbold presented the poster "Stars of the master circadian clock: A characterization of gliogenesis in the mouse suprachiasmatic nucleus". The poster showcased ongoing work aimed at understanding how newly born astrocytes integrate into the developing circadian circuit and what is the link between their proliferation and the emergence of circadian rhythms in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN).
📢 Tomas J. Casas presented the poster "Astrocytes of the mouse suprachiasmatic nucleus respond to glucocorticoid signaling", highlighting how astrocytes in the SCN respond to stress-related hormonal signals in a time-of-day dependent manner by increasing calcium levels.
Neurogune provided an excellent opportunity to discuss our research with colleagues from a wide range of neuroscience disciplines, learn about exciting advances being made across the field, and strengthen connections within the local scientific community.
Congratulations to Sylvia and Tomas for representing the Astiz Lab and sharing their research at this year's meeting!
